As part of its strategy to diversify agriculture and enhance Cambodian rural value chains, the Confirel team carried out a technical mission to Vietnam to visit the renowned Vietnamese chocolate maker Marou. This study and training visit, held on 22 May 2026, marks a new stage in the development of the company’s cocoa project.
Led by Mr NOL Rathana, the project coordinator at Confirel, the team took part in an intensive hands‑on training programme focused on cocoa cultivation and value chain management. Participants visited several model plantations and exchanged views with recognized experts from the Vietnamese cocoa industry.
During the mission, the teams were trained in a range of essential techniques: cocoa horticultural management, nursery development, grafting methods, pruning techniques, and practices designed to improve farm productivity and sustainability.
According to Nol Rathana, this experience has enabled Confirel to acquire valuable technical knowledge in preparation for the future expansion of cocoa cultivation in Cambodia. The company intends in particular to strengthen the skills of local farmers and develop a sustainable, high value‑added cocoa sector.
In the next stages of the project, Rol Rothana will oversee the development of standardized community planting procedures tailored to rural Cambodian realities. For her part, his colleague Ms Meyny will be responsible for internal training and farmer outreach under the 2026 cocoa expansion plan.
